The month of May recognizes the senior community and is National Older Americans Month! We would like to take the time to celebrate those who have built resilience and strength over the course of their lives through their highest points and lowest. The Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month and the theme for 2021 is “Communities of Strength”.
Older Americans Month is a time to celebrate the strengths of elderly individuals to emphasize of the power of connection and engagement through the senior community. There are many ways to take care of ourselves, bolster our strength, and continue to flourish in our community and society. Older adults have grown to become architects of the society by educating youth, developing programs and systems to guide how communities operate, tending to the sick and defending the country.
Senior Helpers allows the senior community to be protected and nurtured while they are aging in place comfortably. We also provide the opportunity for seniors to stay independent but have specialized and customizable care if needed. Our experienced caregivers use a unique approach when paired with those who have Alzheimer’s and dementia with our Senior Gems® program. This program is based on GEMS techniques, strategies, and overall approach to care which was created and developed by Teepa Snow, Positive Approach, LLC. Our classification system enables Senior Helpers caregivers to identify different stages of dementia and focus on what a person can still do based on their “gem level”.
Another program Senior Helpers offers to help aid the senior community is the LIFE Profile Assessment. This data-driven assessment tool provides a holistic view of the risks, needs, and factors that influence the ability to age at home. Our LIFE Profile stands for life, independence, function, and evaluation to help review the five key factors that are most important for successful aging: safety, independence, medical condition, burden of care, management, and quality of life.
The senior community includes the brave men and women who have defended our country on many different occasions. At Senior Helpers, we value our veterans and want to give support and assistance to those who have put their life on the line. This is through our assistance of VA’s Aid & Attendance Benefit, which pays seniors for the in-home senior care they need to live comfortably and safely. Veterans, spouses of veterans, and surviving spouses of veterans who are homebound can all qualify for this if they meet certain criteria.
Senior Helpers wants to provide a necessary and essential service to elderly individuals and their loved ones to create a safe and comfortable environment while aging in place. By being a franchisee with Senior Helpers, you are taking advantage of the growing market in elderly services as well as providing a crucial and important service to senior citizens and their families.
